Conservatism Hollywood Truth

Can Fearless Conservative James Woods Make An Acting Come Back?

by Julio Gonzalez, M.D., J.D.

One of the many fatalities of Hollywood’s war on conservatism is the career of James Woods, the feisty author of countless conservative tweets and a towering steeple among conservatives on Twitter. His commentary and retorts are biting, witty, and when they need to be, merciless.  But of course, his open display of his political positions has cast a stigma on his career as an actor. And Woods has said as much.

In a tweet from February, Woods said he was blacklisted because he refused to back Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton. Then came word from Woods that The Gersh Agency, which represented him for a great part of his career, would not continue representing him because of his political views.

And Twitter has not been accommodating to Woods, either. Despite having 1.79 million followers, Twitter banned him from his account after he tweeted a meme of three men enthusiastically proclaiming that they were going to make women’s votes more powerful this election cycle by staying home on election day.

Twitter refused Woods access to his account unless he took down the meme. He refused. And he got his account back.

But if his Twitter presence has been remarkable, his acting career has been even more so. Woods, known for his intensity on the screen and his ability to deliver expressions of sheer unbridled anger is one of the giants of modern film productions.

Who can forget the Porsche scene in Against All Odds and the events surrounding it? And if you haven’t seen The Specialist where Woods’s character, Ned Trent, loses it while building a bomb in front of a trailer full of Miami police officers daring them to have him blow it up, then you’ve missed one of the greatest displays of controlled anger on film.

Then there was his portrayal of the Machiavellian politician in Contact, who kept saying, “Continue,” as he intently listened to the report of the missing 8-hours of data from a presumably failed, seconds-long, space mission in a vehicle that was the product of alien blueprint instructions. The missing time sequence was the exact amount that Jodie Foster’s character, the astronaut that actually traveled in the craft, described as she toured the galaxy with an apparent alien. Woods’s silent attention was followed by a single, sinister, controlled utterance from him, “That is interesting.”

But by far, my favorite Woods movie is True Believer where Woods plays a beat up, longhaired, has-been lawyer opposite Robert Downey, Jr. The movie opens with Downey entering the courtroom to meet Woods’s character, Eddie Dodd, for the first time. Woods, his back to the camera, is seated at the defense table when Downey instinctively introduces himself to the shorthaired, well-manicured defendant seated next to him. When Woods actually responds, the audience is duped and falls victim to one of the great displays of irony and double-fakery in film. Few actors other than Woods would have been able to pull off this inherent contradiction in a character.

But, as has become too frequent a case, Woods’ career has been effectively silenced as his conservatism has become public. You would think that there would be someone so iconic, so magnificent, so great, that political bias would be insufficient to ostracize.

Well, you’d be wrong.

Yet Hollywood’s coercion was unable to silence him, merely to control the only thing it can about him: his career. But over the past week, there has been talk about a sitcom featuring him and another discarded semi-conservative actor, Roseanne Barr — talk that Woods himself ginned up.

Needless to say, I’d love to tune in to that sitcom. Not because of Barr who, although iconic in her own rate, is at best a mediocre actress. But because of Woods, a true giant amongst thespians!

And the fact that Woods and Barr would almost assuredly be able to put together a hit because of their talents, their huge following who feels starved for something not bashing Trump and Republicans, and of course the controversy. But for it to really happen, someone in Hollywood would have to have the fortitude and professionalism to do it.

Unlikely. Woods’ feisty, take-no-prisoners verbal fisticuffs on Twitter does not translate into persuading even otherwise willing Hollywood execs to take the risk. The anti-all-things-not-left in Hollywood is just too strong and too nasty, frequently beating out even the profit motive.

However, if someone with a distribution channel took it, about every conservative out there would give it a watch. I’m ready to. I’ll even go fire up the popcorn!

Hollywood Media Social Media Truth

Social Media Proves The Need For Whatfinger Style Alternatives

Rod Thomson

In this era of growing mass censorship of conservative, traditionalist opinion and overt media bias, the need for alternative news and information outlets has never been greater. No hyperbole. Legitimately never greaterThe reason is twofold:

➔ The victory of political correctness and the rise of identity politics on the American left, which dominates the dissemination of information in the nation;

➔ The social media revolution that also is dominated by the American left and increasingly willing to flex the anti-free speech instincts of its fellow travelers.

This has been growing over the past couple of years, but the depth of it has been rapidly revealed since the election of Donald Trump. Even many anti-Trumpers on the right (alas, not all) have come to realize with assurity that the American left has a powerful streak that would censor all speech with which they disagree. Amazingly, this is even true in the media to a degree.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz issued a strong warning about the monopolistic power of Silicon Valley during a recent interview on the Breitbart News Sunday program. He said “The nexus of power in media has moved from New York City to Silicon Valley” and that America needs to “look at all the tools we have to protect free speech and prevent the Internet from becoming a vehicle for censorship.”

Cruz was referring to the shadowbanning on Twitter, where views not agreeable to the Twitter overmasters drop into a dark pit, and no one or almost no one, sees them. Conservative Twitter users frequently notice that suddenly no one is engaging with their tweets and whistleblowers have confirmed Twitter does this as a practice.

Youtube, which is owned by Google, has been demonetizing conservative channels by flagging them as having “inappropriate” content that scares off advertisers and viewers, and essentially attempts to silence the conservative sites by bankrupting them. Dozens of large conservative sites — including those as unoffensive and mainstream as PragerU — have seen dramatic demonetization on Youtube as suddenly video after video is flagged. Youtube just recently announced it will spend $25 million of its own money to promote its own list of the same “trusted” news sites.

And Facebook has replaced its discredited “trending news” section after the company was caught filling it with leftist news that was not in any way measurably “trending.” It was so bad and Facebook is so influential, that it became the subject of Congressional inquiries that included founder Mark Zuckerberg testifying before Congress.

But what Facebook is replacing it with is a feature called “breaking news,” that will be populated only by “trustworthy and quality sources.” Not surprisingly, the list of 80 such outlets appears to be dominated by, if not exclusively featuring, leftist publications. Facebook is not revealing the criteria for how the 80 were chosen, but in addition to the Washington Post, it was leaked that the much more leftist Vox and The Verge are on the “trustworthy” list.

Most recently, Apple has launched a “midterms election” feature of “trusted sources” for its official News app on iPhones, which like Facebook seems to include largely leftist publications from the old mainstream media to outright leftist Vox and Axios.

Apple News does not have the reach of the Big Three in social media, but it demonstrates that every dissemination organ out there is run by leftists who will choose to tell consumers what they should be consuming rather than allow the freedom for consumers to choose themselves.

Back to Cruz: “That is a level of power that is staggering, and I think it poses a real and present danger to our democratic system, particularly given the extreme left-wing bias of Silicon Valley. What we’ve seen over and over again, they’re acting to muzzle and silence conservative views, views they disagree with. That’s frightening.”

The problem is less and less with an absence of alternative news and comment sources. Those have multiplied in recent years, including big hitters from, Breitbart, the Daily Caller, Washington Examiner, Newsmax, the Daily Wire and so on to smaller hitters such as Liberty Nation, Sparta Report and The Revolutionary Act.

Like The Revolutionary Act On Facebook

The problem is broad dissemination for people not already familiar with their platforms. And as bad as the stacked deck is for conservative news views, it is compounded by the shifting of the-once solid conservative alternative of the Drudge Report into a more mainstream, celebrity-soaked, sensationalistic, UFO and sex robots site. Not really what conservative, traditionalist Americans are after.

There are really only two alternatives to this. One is to declare the social media giants — particularly Facebook — a monopoly in the information dissemination industry and either break it up like Ma Bell was broken into the Baby Bells, or regulate it like utilities are. That option should rub every conservative wrong because it places the government as the overseer of information. A fairly terrible and certainly untrustworthy option at best — and the government is already a player in the progressives establishment.

The other option is for conservatives and traditionalist Americans to use alternative information disseminating sites. The most prominent of these is the fast-rising Whatfinger News, which is a solidly conservative news aggregator in the space of Drudge, but with literally 10 times more story links from reliable sources.

While Drudge puts up 25 to 30 new links per day, Whatfinger * adds 250 to 400 new links daily. The site is much more complete in covering the news and issues from a range of conservative perspectives with none of the nonsense that Drudge now indulges in.

Whatfinger News is followed by alternative Drudge look-alikes The Liberty Daily and Citizen Free Press. Try them out to see what works for you. They are all providing a more conservative alternative to Drudge, but we prefer Whatfinger as the layout is clean and well-organized and you can count on a huge number of new items every day — nicely prioritized.

This approach to the mass censoring is the best option for freedom-loving conservatives. It allows a broad reach, at least into the conservative community, for all of the right-leaning news sites to aid in distribution of content that counters the liberal media narrative.

But it can only work if conservatives share such alternatives with each other. Whatfinger’s growth has been almost exclusively by word of mouth, and it has grown fast in just two years. If conservatives will share these sites on their own social media accounts by the millions, the word will spread rapidly and others who may be traditionalists or even moderates will see other news options that the social media giants are censoring.

This needs to happen quickly, before the social media censors go further and block such attempts. Don’t think that won’t happen. Based on what has gone on since November 2016, everything is possible.

(* NOTE: The Revolutionary Act has no financial arrangement with Whatfinger and no quid pro quo on articles. Like every one of our posts, this is a straightforward opinion.)

Hollywood Liberalism Trump Truth

Joss Whedon’s Mental Descent Exemplifies Today’s Big Liberalism

Rod Thomson

Avengers’ director Joss Whedon suffers from the all-too-common mental disorder known popularly as Trump Derangement Syndrome. The condition is not yet part of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, but it’s symptoms are depressingly evident.

But Whedon acts as a sort of poster boy for both the disorder, and the attendant philosophic descent of modern liberalism.

Whedon, who comes from a family of wealth, grew up in Manhattan and went to high school at an elite all-boys school in England. He attended Connecticut’s pricey, private liberal arts school, Wesleyan University. He’s lived and swam in Hollywood circles for decades. Whedon is not only a successful Hollywood producer and director — including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse and The Cabin in the Woods — he is wildly rich with a net worth estimated at $100 million.

He has had a full inculcation in modern liberalism, the kind that can make him rail against average Americans who oppose the dangers and wage suppression of illegal immigration while he lives securely in a gated mansion with no competition from those immigrants; the kind that can make him rail against guns, while his personal security is maintained by men with guns.

So as spring follows winter, he has imbibed heavily of irrational Trump hatred sauce since November 2016. No hyperbole is too great for the smallest of perceived infractions. No amount of good news on the economy or world stage is not met with even more frothing Trump hatred. It’s the heart of the disorder, and an almost logical plunge for those who think there are 72 genders.

Please Support Our Efforts For Traditional American Principles

His latest dive into the dark pool of jaw-dropping Trump hatred also sadly represents Big Liberalism, a philosophy in full breakdown in its own right. It’s unknown what tripped Whedon’s emotional trigger this time — it really doesn’t take anything — but he tweeted this a few days ago:

“Donald trump is killing this country. Some of it quickly, some slowly, but he spoils and destroys everything he touches. He emboldens monsters, wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia. My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don. Just quietly die.”

— Joss Whedon (@joss) April 4, 2018

Let’s break down the rant, because it is so instructive — not just of Whedon, but of all those suffering this same descent into madness.

Joss Whedon does not give one example of Trump “killing this country,” because there isn’t one. GDP is up, unemployment is down, deregulation is in gear, taxes have been cut, the military is slowly being rebuilt and so on. First sentence, demonstrably irrational. But to Whedon and others suffering, it’s just obviously true!

On the second sentence, charging that Trump spoils and destroys everything he touches, again he gives no evidence. Nothing.

The charge that Trump “emboldens monsters” is just provably false. Which monsters exactly has he emboldened? ISIS? ISIS has been largely eradicated as a land-holding terrorist organization since Trump’s election. Putin? Putin undoubtedly does not see it that way with sanctions, attacks on Putin allies and strengthening defenses against Putin’s expansionist desires. North Korea? Obviously the opposite is true with the North moving towards talks and pulling back some. Iran? Again, Trump is aiding the opposition trying to contain the terrorist state. What’s ironic is that the president who demonstrably emboldened all of these monsters was Obama. Each one became much stronger during Obama’s presidency.

The charge that Trump…“wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia.” This is just where the frothing starts. Wielding guns? Who knows. Governmental power. Trump has been deregulating. That is kind of the opposite. And liberalism feasts on government power in the first place, so how would that even be a negative? Smug doublespeak? Or Russia? What now? Whedon, like so many others, is just sputtering nonsense repeated daily as though everyone knows. But there are no clothes on this king.

The fatefully critical part is the last sentence.

My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don. Just quietly die.

Honesty. Finally. He hates Trump. He loathes to the point of wanting him dead. This is probably his most accurate portion.

Liberals hate Trump in a fashion that is wholly divorced from reality. Because by almost all actions and policies, he’s been an average to above-average conservative president. He simply has a unique and at times grating personality. Much of conservatism found that to be true of Obama, just in a different way. Note please, there was no such insanity then.

Then, wishing the president to die. This reveals the disorder in full bloom. Whedon is obviously not a dumb man. But when you publicly wish death to the President of the United States to your 226,000 Twitter followers, you’ve just begged for trouble.

But Whedon’s tweet includes many of the things that Big Liberalism tells itself and its devotees every day. They all believe it so blindly, with such religious-like fervor, they can just say, Guns! Russia! Monsters! And everyone nods their head in delusional agreement.

In an interesting and what appeared to be a contrarian sign, Joss Whedon appeared to be locked out of his account by Twitter, which generally only does this sort of thing to conservatives. Alas, however, it turns out it was just long enough for him to take down the tweet, then he was back in business.

But his grievance over it was real. He tweeted:

“Well I was put in twitter suspension but luckily there was also a jock, a weird girl, a socialite and a rebel and it turns out we’re all the same or something (?) anyway they all hooked up and I had to write this tweet so I’m not sure, trump still killing the country tho lol”

— Joss Whedon (@joss) April 6, 2018

This is the sort of thing someone unstable tweets. Whedon nicely exemplifies Big Liberalism: lots of money, lots of privilege, lots of arrogance, lots of hypocrisy, lots of insulation from Americans…growing mental instability.

Here’s the thing that many Americans will soon have to wrestle with (although probably not those suffering from the syndrome); despite all of these wild-eyed, bomb-throwing, the-end-is-nigh! proclamations, none of their prophecies of doom have come true.

There’s just not one iota of evidence to suggest Trump has done or will do any of the things these people claim he has already done. They don’t provide evidence for an obvious reason. Just wild denunciations. It’s easily arguable the country is better off at this point under Trump in every measurable way.

But Joss Whedon is Hollywood, and the media, and pop music stars and the broader Trump-deranged Big Liberalism culture that feeds off rabid hatred of the President that is beyond all reason. Eventually, either reality is going to create a crisis point for Whedon and the rest of Big Liberalism, or they will continue saying killing babies is a choice, and men can be girls if they feel like it and Trump is destroying the country. That will create a different crises.
